Empire State Burger

Ingredients:

Tegel Free Range Take Outs Louisiana Style Burgers 600g
  • 8 Tegel Take Outs Louisiana Burgers
  • 4 frozen hashbrowns 
  • 8 rashers streaky bacon
  • 4 sesame seed burger buns
  • ½ cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 8 slices burger cheese

Method:

  1. Cook the Louisiana Burgers and hashbrowns as per packet instructions until golden and crunchy.
  2. For perfect crispy bacon, place a wire rack on top of a rimmed baking tray. Lay the bacon in a single layer on top of the wire rack and bake in the oven at 230°C until the bacon is golden, crisp and starts to ripple, about 10 – 15 minutes. Cooking on a wire rack allows the bacon to cook from all sides and become extra crispy!
  3. For the ultimate homemade burger, remember to lightly toast your buns. Prepare the buns by spreading a thin layer of softened butter, then toast in the oven or on a grill or hot plate until lightly golden brown and warmed through.
  4. Spread at least a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the top and bottom of each burger bun – this adds maximum flavour and makes for an extra juicy burger.
  5. Add a handful of shredded iceberg lettuce to the bottom burger buns - this adds freshness and crunch.
  6. Top with a Louisiana Burger followed by a slice of cheese, a rasher of bacon and a hashbrown. Repeat with the remaining burger, cheese and bacon.
  7. Place the top bun on top and serve immediately while hot!
